My Goals and Acheivements

Streetlifting

For a long time now, my main way of training has been calisthenics. I really enjoy working with bodyweight movements and building strength that way, but over time I started mixing it with elements of powerlifting as well. That combination is often referred to as ‘street lifting,’ and it’s a style of training that I’ve really grown to enjoy.

It’s allowed me to develop both strength and control, and I like how it challenges me in different ways compared to more traditional training methods. Over time, I’ve been putting in consistent work to improve my performance, refine my technique, and push my limits.

Looking ahead, my goal is to take things to the next level by competing in next year’s national street lifting competition. I want to use that opportunity to really test myself, gain experience, and showcase the strength and skills I’ve been building through my training.

Half Marathon

Alongside my usual training, I decided to take on something completely different by running the Middlesbrough Half Marathon. As someone who primarily focuses on powerlifting and strength-based training, endurance running was a real challenge for me.

Preparing for the race pushed me out of my comfort zone in a big way. I had to adapt my training, work on my stamina, and build a level of mental resilience that I don’t usually rely on in the same way during lifting sessions. It wasn’t easy balancing both styles of training, but it taught me a lot about discipline and consistency.

On the day of the race, it was definitely one of the toughest things I’ve done physically. There were moments where I really had to dig deep and keep going, especially coming from a background that isn’t built around long-distance running. But crossing the finish line made it all worth it.

Taking part in the Middlesbrough Half Marathon gave me a new perspective on fitness and showed me that I’m capable of more than just strength training. It’s something I’m really proud of and a reminder that stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to some of the most rewarding experiences.
